    I see the diced hose on Chris's site...what about Argyll...does he only offer them in the four Stewart/Stuart patterns or are those just examples listed?

    The Nova Scotia Highlanders wear Black and Red. I'd go that way for two colour diced hose.

    I would vote red/green, then red/black. xman makes a good argument

    If you don't know his specific foot an leg measurements then the safest thing to do is go with a stock size, rather than a custom knit. You'd still need to have an idea of his shoe size, but that ought to be easier to find out without ruining the surprise.

    I know we have some red/black and red/white in stock now, but I'd have to check to see if we have the size you need.

    Don't forget that with boots, high shoes or spats there are options for hose tops. The Nova Scotia Highlanders in the photo are probably wearing hose tops. I have a couple pair and they are great.
