    Being hyper-critical...

First off, the overall outfit looks just fine, and the "John Brown" jacket is a refreshing change from the usual one-button affair. All in all, a solid A-.

To bring it up to A+ standards, you should pop round to your local tailor and have him slightly adjust the fit of the jacket with special attention to the sleeves, which are a tad too long for civilian attire. The proper sleeve length should come to your wrist, and no lower.

Other than that, it's a first class turn out.

I think it looks fantastic. MOR does make a point...the sleeves are just a tad long. Overall, though, smashing!

I must agree with M.O.R. You look very good, and with all around tailoring of the jacket you would look GREAT! I would suggest using a tailor who is familiar with the proper fit to be achieved with highland attire, or at least, bring along some photos of well modeled dress for them to see. It is definitely different than a typical American suit fitting.

Your desire to look your best by subjecting yourself to the feedback of your peers is admirable indeed. I am not sure I would be as courageous, or as committed!

    Well done!

I agree with MoR's comments, and overall, it looks grand.

Personally, I think the green hose complement the look better than red hose would, but that's just me.

Oh, and the watch would definitely be the icing on the cake!

Very smart! Yes, go with the watch. My main thoughts lie with the sporran, to my mind it is too formal for the rest of the day attire and a plain leather one and leather sporran strap would be more in keeping with the rest of the outfit.

Smashing, although I had the same thoughts as others about the jacket sleeve length and kilt pin. Should be a wonderful outfit with your considered additions as well.

Of course it is entirely your choice what you wear and I totally respect that. Let me give you my reasoning. Your attire, apart from the sporran and chain, is just normal day wear and whilst it is very smart, is not in any way formal. So in my humble opinion your sporran is over egging the cake a wee tad.

Now, no doubt some would say that there is good historical evidence to say that all types of sporrans were worn with day wear, they are not wrong, but these days(perhaps for 100 years) a plainer sporran is more often than not worn during the day at non formal events.

First, my eye is immediately pulled to that great tartan! What is it?

Next, I love the jacket; it goes great with that tartan, but I agree with the above comments that a less formal sporran would look better, and the green hose are better than red. That said however, nothing really wrong with the current sporran and red hose, either.
