I was the textile advisor to the film, not that they necessarily followed what I advised hence Rob Roy’s tartan in the film.
Argyll is wearing a length that I had to hand which was something I designed, naturally dyed and wove. The tartan was basically an early – mid C18th type setting.
Later I learnt that the ‘props’ were sold off and so this piece is probably someone’s picnic rug and they won’t have the faintest idea what they have. It as a lovely piece and if only I’d known at the time I’d have bought it back.
Or, someone's smelly hound dog is sleeping on it...!
What was negative about Rob's tartan inthe film?
