Went shopping today
Good evening all,
Went to do that one weekend a month thing and made time to stop buy the Resale store. Found a couple jackets to use for conversion fodder and a military sweater for wear. All 3 ran $35US -
A Navy dress jacket. Will have to come up with quite a few buttons as it uses 6 on the front (only 3 show) -

An Air Force dress jacket -

Even if I screw either up it's not like I'm out much. Also keeping my eye out for an Army for a green one.
The Army sweater for just wearing around on during casual times -

The luck was running wild this weekend. I too went to a resale shop, and found a Harris Tweed jacket. Need to alter the arm length, but that's a small task for a $7.99usd jacket.

Same here! I found a plain black jacket that I intend to convert to a Prince Charlie!

Amazing luck all around than.
The Navy jacket might have an issue as it is a 6 button -

Do you guys think it will still work?

Personally, I love double breasted jackets.
I think that would make a swell transition. Just how to pull it off might be interesting. you may have to loose the bottom row of buttons.
Keep us posted.

There is a picture somewhere here on XMarks of a well known (internationally known) piper wearing a double breasted Argyll. Double breasted jackets tend to flatter the larger man. The downside is that they look slovenly when worn open.

Well I should be ok than
I was worried about the extra 3 buttons since there are holes in the jacket so I can't just skip them.

The Navy coat looks to be an interesting challenge, but if your skill at
sewing matches your skill elsewhere, it'll look grand.
