from Scotland.
Deepest sympathy and a fine memorial. Weavers here are a wee bit distant from Birmingham US although I will be in Birmingham UK next week.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. What a fitting way to memorialize your wife. I can not even begin to imagine your loss.
I did something very similar for the passing of my grandfather. The tartan has been registered, woven and now I proudly wear the kilt. (Scottish Register of Tartans number 10127) Matt Newsome at the Scottish Tartans Museum was extremely helpful! I would suggest contacting him.

What a beautiful and lasting tribute to your wife!
If you intend to have kilts made, you really need kilting tartan. As mentioned by a couple of others, D.C.Dalgliesh in Scotland is the place you want to contact. You can order as little as 1 kilt length (and it will come single width, not double width), or you can order a larger run, in which case they will weave it double width at lower cost. Even one kilt length isn't all that expensive. I just got an order for a client, and a kilt length, custom woven, was about $350. Given the cost of stock kilting tartan, that's actually quite remarkable.
Any kiltmaker can help you order a custom weave.

Welcome, Used to live in Birmingham. Born down in Selma. Alabama needs more kilts for sure! Good on you. Such a loving project.

Welcome aboard from the Midlands of South Carolina. Condolences about your loss. Alas, I have nothing to offer regarding the weavers.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

First,Welcome to the Rabble from Athens, Georgia.
Second, I'm so sorry for your loss and I agree with the others that honoring the memory with a tartan is truly wonderful.
I will also say that any of the kiltmakers on this forum could help you get the tartan made into a kilt. I am sure they will be able to help in some way shape or form.

Greetings and Welcome,
I am sorry for your loss, I too have designed a tartan to commemorate the loss of family friends (John & Isabella Buchanan), and is also listed on the Register.
In regards to finding a weaver I can only offer this link as they weaved all my tartans:

This is there USA service, I hope this can help with the progress of your design.
Good Luck!
All the best,
Graham.
