    THCD Photo Examples

Based on a suggestion in a previous thread, I though it might be helpful to have a thread with particularly good examples of THCD. Here are a few photos that I think show a wide range of individual expression while being solidly THCD.

Great idea davidlpope, thanks! I hope others will contribute here as well.

Normally when I look at these sorts of photos, I'm observing the mores that make the outfit conform to tradition. Given the topic of the previous thread where the suggestion occurred, I'm now training my eyes to find what is individualistic within tradition. It's a rather different perspective for me

I sincerely hope that the fellow wearing open-toed sandals with white hose isn't considered "solidly THCD"...

That's actually HG the Duke of Argyll, the Duchess of Argyll, and an unidentified fellow with the sandals that, I think, has just finished winning one of the heavy events. FWIW, I'm not making fun of anybody's shoes when they can pitchfork me over a twenty-foot high bar!

I am a little confused on one issue. I always see the admonition not to wear a belt with a waistcoat. The picture of the gentleman in evening wear and the tartan waistcoat is clearing wearing a belt. Is this OK because the waistcoat is tartan or am I missing something??

Do you mean this picture? He's wearing his belt overtop of his waistcoat in order to hang his dirk on it, which is correct for THCD. I believe the idea with not wearing a belt under the waistcoat is that an unsightly bulge can result.

I wish my more distinguished older relatives still made appearances in highland attire... but for the last remaining of them, the last time they did was in the 1980s I believe.

Keep the pics coming everyone! ForresterModern, looking dapper, sir.
