David, thanks for a good set of pictures. I've always liked the two brothers arriving at the wedding. I really like the double-breasted waistcoat on the gentleman carrying the small banner, and if I've ever seen brown ghillie brogues
before on anyone, I don't recall it. The white hose I found not overly offensive, as the shirt was at least not white also, so no sandwich. I think I
was more jarred by the bright blue hose on the gentleman with the drink and cigarette. I don't look for matching, but for me, at least, that was a stretch.

The 1st gentleman is Gordon Walker, the second is another piping great, the late John D. Burgess.

Gordon Walker always strikes me as one of the best dressed men (kilted or not). Always appears traditional, but with a bit of individuality somehow. Thats how it should be done (IMHO). I always love to see pics of him (videos even better!)
 Cheers,

After the chap from Bednoch in Clan Chattan, my favorite is the smaller man in

In part, it's the fact that he is walking and his kilt has some swish, but mostly it's the very simple, clean cut elegance. Makes me want to shave off my beard!

This is interesting. I had included that photo as a reference to the trews and doublet that Bachuil is wearing and thought about editing the other fellow out of the photo. I don't mean to be offensive, but the white shirt, black argyll jacket with silver buttons, ghillie brogues, ubiquitous sealskin/chrome cantle evening sporran, black hose/white hose outfit is the one that I think is most lacking when it comes to personal style and individual "tweaking", making it almost a "uniform" of sorts, since there is rarely any variation in the different bits and pieces. We're in complete agreement, though, on the clean-shaveness aspect!

That's him, and his lovely wife Fiona. :-) The photo was taken at the Stone Mountain Highland Games in 2008, I believe, and the tartan he's wearing is the Red & Black MacGregor, aka "Rob Roy."

I was poking around last night and saw that SKYE HIGHLAND OUTFITTERS now offers a tailored-for-you bias cut doublet in PV for under $200. They have a wide range of tartans. I am a satisfied SHO customer from another purchase, but have no financial interest.
Thanks to all and sundry for these great photos.

I was also interested to see discussion above of that other great highland accessory- the beard. Sadly, any flexibility in facial hair is either accomplished slowly, or runs only one way. That is, you can cut it off quickly, but growing it is another thing entirely. I once had a 12 month beard, which I did not cut at all. Conservatively speaking, it aged my appearance by at least 15 years. On cold mornings I wish I had it back.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife
