I am a frequent wearer of the House of Cheviot Argyll top hose. In fact I have all the tops offered. Recently I purchased the full tartan hose which I have worn in more formal occasions. After this thread, I will them for day wear, too. Dunadd Trading Company is also carrying the military type hose; red/black, red white. Those are on my LIST.

Were I to wear that military MacKenzie Seaforth kilt, yes I would wear red & white diced hose in the evening and Lovat Green self-coloured hose in the day, in keeping with the military. (It's a purely military tartan, like Gordon and Erracht Cameron, and my "eye" can't forget that fact.)
Now you might get somebody to knit you a pair of these deerhead motif hose...

Yeah, I suppose this really doesn't work for daywear (the tartan is close enough to make a fair comparison):

(Not to pick on any particular X Marker, but helpful to me to be able to observe the kilt/hose combination in vivo.)
Speaking of the Seaforths, here are some nice vintage illustrations showing both red-and-white diced and tartan hose:

and also the Highland Light Infantry:

As a straight guy I can't help but say what a strikingly handsome dude that is! BTW Tim Little, it's not about matching.
