    Flashes

Being new to kilting, I had only the flashes that came with a few of my SWK kilts. I decided to reverse-engineer those flashes and make some solid-color flashes. I cut the fabric to size, fused some interfacing and sewed them up. I bought the wrong size elastic, so no garters yet but I'll be making them tomorrow.

I also made a sporran belt with some holiday colors. I just replaced the chain with some knotted string.

That sporran chain is a really cool idea!! I've actually been tossing around the idea of making leather flashes. I have a really light weight leather that would be ideal. You may have inspired me... once Christmas presents are done that is!! Those flashes are really nice- very clean looking! I really should learn how to sew...

Flashes look great. Simple and nit. Maybe you can find extra information here:

The flashes look pretty good. The sporran strap is a novel idea. I might rob your idea...I need something to go with my Santa hat for Christmas...and I have no desire to put bells on my garter ties!
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

A note on the sporran strap. The red and green string were kind of "slippery" and didn't hold a knot well. I made them hold by dripping some super glue on them. Voila, perma-knot.
