Someone has to chime in here for Tartanweb. My Colorado state tartan kilt came from them. It's beautiful- well made, nice heavy tartan, fast shipping, good communication. If it weren't for the insanely high import doodies (no, that was was not a spelling error! The import tarriffs are crap) , I would take advantage of this sale.

Chiming in for Tartanweb!?? Well, if it weren't for my latest acquisition from them, which was very disappointing, I'd say they did decent work, at least my 1st kilt was good. And, others have had good experience from them. Their sales manager, Peter Reid, is wonderful. But, the fact remains that the kilt they sent me was a dud! Even after sending it back to be fixed, they sent it to me in less than desirable condition. To be honest, it's a crap shoot! The proof is in the pudding...look at my thread and pics: Tartanweb, Disappointment.

I had good fortune with them once, but got burned once, and that's all it takes. I will not do business with them in the future. When Peter leaves, in mid-January, I'll follow him at Reid kilts!

Now I never said they're perfect all the time! So don't take it that way. Just keep in mind that no company will ever be perfect, and a few mistakes (and yes, you do count as a few mistakes- plural- they screwed up with you several times!) don't define a company. Every company is going to make mistakes. It sucks that you got what you got, BUT they are making it right by refunding your money, aren't they? I did look at that thread... and that kilt made me want to cry, so I understand your frustration. My point is simply that the occasional screwup doesn't mean that they will do nothing other than screw up. So by all means, don't do business with them again! That's totally your prerogative. However, I have had good experiences with them, and will do business with them again in the future. I only thought that I should tell the other side of things! And I will be watching your Scotweb disappointment thread with great interest, believe me. I won't be buying another kilt from them, but that has nothing to do with the quality of their products. I simply prefer box pleats, and they don't offer that option. I will be buying the occasional accessory from them, however. And this really is one of the things that makes this such a great forum- the exchange of these experiences. They really do help people to make very good, informed decisions on such a major purchase, so thank you for posting those detailed pictures. Good luck with your replacement kilt, whoever you decide to get it from (USA Kilts is a good option... )

Nighthawk, thanks for the input. I appreciate your concern and comments.

In posting the original thread, I wanted to let out my frustration. Now, one has to make up their own mind whether or not they will purchase from Tartanweb. It's a carp shoot. Everyone is entitled to mistakes, but after two attempts, this was not very good business on their part.

I did purchase a casual kilt from them, and loved it. That's why I did repeat business. The Tweed Argyll jack/vest was lovely, also. But the Robertson tank sank my boat. If an individual keeps getting good products, then one is inclined to keep doing repeat business, but once burned, ya better not go back.

I must give credit due, though, to Tartanweb, specifically, Peter Reid, for seeing to it that the situation is corrected. I will get a refund, so now I just need to decide who will do the next kilt.

    Jonesing can be a bear!

Sure!! I just didn't want you to think that I was marginalizing your experience. I know how much it sucks to get screwed like that...

(Psst... www.usakilts.com - they do awesome work!!)
