Tartanweb Kilt Sale 110-150gbp in select tartans plus other stuff

Tartanweb is having a Christmas Sale clearing out made to measure kilts from some segments of leftover tartans, sometimes only enough for one kilt. They are for 8yd presumably machine sewn kilts, normally 199gbp or more.

130gbp (about $167us after dropping VAT and doing the exchange) MacLean Hunting, Ireland’s National 12 oz
140gbp (about $180us) Ferguson Modern 13oz, Johnstone Modern, Red MacNicol 13oz, MacColl 13oz, Fraser Weathered 13oz
145gbp (about $187us) Purple Auld Lang Syne 16oz
150gbp (about $193us) Guthrie Modern 16oz, Stewart Hunting Modern 13 or 16oz, Oliver Ancient 13oz, Hamilton Green Modern 13oz, Stuart of Bute Hunting Modern 16oz, Sinclair Modern 13oz, Colquhoun Modern 13oz

They also are clearing out similar 5 yd made to measure kilts in another different group of tartans for 110-120gbp depending on the tartan (about $155us). There are a number of clearance kilt jacket combos as well in select sizes (none in my size of course) and a collection of a few dress and a lot of semi-dress clearance sporrans, many sealskin.

    General sale:

    8yd kilts:

This is a good chance for some folks to buy a made to measure inexpensively priced but well built kilt, if you can find a tartan you have been hankering for. Limited quantities of tartan available according to the website. I have several Tartanweb kilts and am satisfied with the quality without reservation. Their new customer service is a great improvement over previous reputation. Add shipping and possible duty depending on how you have them shipped and on dumb luck.

    Jeff,

See my latest thread about Tartanweb. My last kilt, which arrived on 12/24, is a disaster! I'll not do business with them ever again!

Yup, you were posting yours simultaneous to me posting the sale notice. I saw your review immediately after posting mine.

Again, sorry to hear about your troubles and hoping for a much more satisfactory outcome for you. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the sale notice. Some good deals to be had indeed -- but after having seen denmcdough's recent experience (and photos) and failed attempts to make things right, I'm afraid I won't be compelled to do business with this company -- at least not until someone from tartanweb steps up and assures us that the problems have been resolved and will not be repeated.

Even the Gold Bros. have a spokesperson here on XMTS. Does Tartanweb? ith:

Neither shall I, having seen the photos.

PS. @CDNSushi, don't say even the Gold Bros. In fact Gold Brothers have a really excellent and efficient customer service, and I have never ever had a kilt made by them, looking as the Tartanweb kilt on the photos. On the contrary, to my opinion they are underestimated.

Someone has to chime in here for Tartanweb. My Colorado state tartan kilt came from them. It's beautiful- well made, nice heavy tartan, fast shipping, good communication. If it weren't for the insanely high import doodies (no, that was was not a spelling error! The import tarriffs are crap) , I would take advantage of this sale.

Chiming in for Tartanweb!?? Well, if it weren't for my latest acquisition from them, which was very disappointing, I'd say they did decent work, at least my 1st kilt was good. And, others have had good experience from them. Their sales manager, Peter Reid, is wonderful. But, the fact remains that the kilt they sent me was a dud! Even after sending it back to be fixed, they sent it to me in less than desirable condition. To be honest, it's a crap shoot! The proof is in the pudding...look at my thread and pics: Tartanweb, Disappointment.

I had good fortune with them once, but got burned once, and that's all it takes. I will not do business with them in the future. When Peter leaves, in mid-January, I'll follow him at Reid kilts!

Now I never said they're perfect all the time! So don't take it that way. Just keep in mind that no company will ever be perfect, and a few mistakes (and yes, you do count as a few mistakes- plural- they screwed up with you several times!) don't define a company. Every company is going to make mistakes. It sucks that you got what you got, BUT they are making it right by refunding your money, aren't they? I did look at that thread... and that kilt made me want to cry, so I understand your frustration. My point is simply that the occasional screwup doesn't mean that they will do nothing other than screw up. So by all means, don't do business with them again! That's totally your prerogative. However, I have had good experiences with them, and will do business with them again in the future. I only thought that I should tell the other side of things! And I will be watching your Scotweb disappointment thread with great interest, believe me. I won't be buying another kilt from them, but that has nothing to do with the quality of their products. I simply prefer box pleats, and they don't offer that option. I will be buying the occasional accessory from them, however. And this really is one of the things that makes this such a great forum- the exchange of these experiences. They really do help people to make very good, informed decisions on such a major purchase, so thank you for posting those detailed pictures. Good luck with your replacement kilt, whoever you decide to get it from (USA Kilts is a good option... )
