Matt Newsome Box Pleated MapleLeaf Kilts

A while back I contacted Matt to make box pleated kilts for my wife and I out of 4 meters of Maple Leaf Tartan from Fraser and Kirkbright that I bought as a remnant a couple of years ago.

My wife's arrived on 24 December, just in time to give to her on Christmas Day. (She did not know about this.) Mine arrived just after New Years.

Today was a bright and sunny day and we wore them for the first time to Chapel on the Army Post at Garmisch, Germany. Our friends noticed pretty quick and we got lots of comments.

I took a snapshot when we got home. It is not the greatest picture, but you get the idea. I made the Maple Leaf Sporran myself. Another in the works for my wife. The sweaters were from a trip to Ireland a couple of years ago.

When we retire to Michigan later this year, we can wear them on the appropriate occasions.

Matt did a great job on the kilts.

Nice work to Matt and an excellent choice of tartan. The maple leaf sporran really sets it off nicely!

Very smart indeed, A_Hay! And the maple leaf sporran rounds the outfit out nicely.

    A good-looking tartan on a good-looking couple.

I know of a pair of hose that would look good with that tartan.

Tremendous picture of a loving couple. Cheers to you both. Those are smashin' kilts and I do like the sporran Tom. All the best for your return to the States. I bet you're going to miss Germany. I did. Cagman sends her best wishes too.

    Looking good.
    I love that sporran.
Is that a Murphy of Ireland sweater?
I got one just like it (in green) for Christmas this year.
