This is always the way it goes when eldritch horrors creep onto a forum. Mass hysteria, carnage, confusion...and bonsai.

Alas! I tried to warn them; my doomed colleagues! I tried to explain that calling electronically on those things which should lie undisturbed would have catastrophic consequences.....Alas!!!

The gods are in our heads, and our heads have become world-wide.
Hoohahaha.
Just saying.
Sorry about the bonsai discussion.

During a certain election period here in Canada there was a bumper sticker that read "Vote for Cthulhu, the greater of two evils." Darned if I could get one, but darned if I did!

I don't mean this to be a cliche, CDNSushi, but do you ever see the bonsai over there in Japan?
Don't be bugged, Bear: the whole Cluthu and Elder Gods thing was entirely made up in the mid-20th century, by the American writer H P Lovecraft in order to sell short stories to pulp horror magazines. Plus of course for the sake of art. Cluthu is no more real than Mickey Mouse, except of course in the hearts of children....
Well I started out serious but lost it at the end there.

Just to clarify, the reason I was asking for a more laymen answer to the whole thing is that I wasn't sure if this was accepted by all as complete fiction, or if it was similiar to scientology which has been taken from Hubbard and now has a standing, I suppose, among religions.

Just so no one gets the wrong idea, I was aware of that.
Not quite sure what I said to lead you down that path....

No. Fiction and roleplay. Of course, you never can tell with people. There may be cults out there that do worship Cthulhu and..shh..hastur(he who shall not be named), as even the most pedestrian fictional mythology can attract converts, be it Cthulhu or the Force.
