    Hard Cider and Lager

I had this in the uk back in 1999. It's hard cider (strongbow) and lager beer mixed 50/50. Does anyone know what this is called?

I've heard a 50/50 mix of pear cider and Guinness called a "Bruised Pear" and a 50/50 mix of Bass and Guinness called a "Black & Tan".

According to Wikipedia it's a Snakebite (shandy)

Around here it is called a snakebite, and it can be made with just about any cider. Most of the time it is made with Magners in my area.

I remember some initial confusion the first time a buddy tried to get me to drink one of these, because there is a slightly older drink called a snakebite that is Yukon Jack and lime juice.

    And both are great!
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Yep snakebite... sank more than a few of those... mostly with tennants and woodpecker

variations would include blackcurrant cordial, redcurrant cordial, and vodka being added....

Shandy would normally be beer and lemonade (think 7up without the lemon taste)

I heard of some cornish people who used to bubble butane lighter fuel through snakebite then drink the result for their kicks. Before you try this please note that I also heard it killed some of them!

I thought it was a snakebite but I kept getting whiskey and lime juice. That bruised pear sounds good too.

Try a 50/50 mix of Pear Cider and Raspberry Lambic sometime; That mix goes by various names, but we call it a Sweet B*tch down here.
