    apple cider and black bears

Spent the day with my son and granddaughters picking apples and making cider. He has several apple trees on his property, one of them had multiple piles of bear scat underneath it. Even this could not put a damper on a perfect day with grandchildren.

The adult just has to make sure the kids aren't walking around smelling of apples, I guess. And there is the oft-quoted rural legend to consider, the one about the bear, or deer, or grouse, or turkey, or (fill in the blank), that eats fermenting downed apples and gets drunk and belligerent, or staggering and helpless, or (make up your own outcome) and takes on all comers including the local freight train, or farmer's tractor, or runs into a tree and knocks itself out, or falls and breaks its own neck, or (think of something interesting).

I think a bear fur sporran would look rather nice! Can you hunt them where you are?

I've seen a goat drunk on windfall apples.

He didn't do anything very interesting - just lay there grinning and gurgling like a blocked drain and he smelt about the same as one...

That is quite a picture to contemplate.

I'm sure the goat was just waiting for a train to come along and then he would have sprung into action.

The word that also comes to mind is "commodious!"

This could quickly turn into a skit from "The Life Of Brian." The 64 mm film version of which you could put in that sporran.
