Welcome from Michigan! Look at Stillwater Kilts standard model $80, nightstalker or saffron, or their heavyweight wool kilts in a saffron, black or green shadow tartan. Maybe a more solid color might look more business like to your boss.

Welcome! Great people in Wichita. The most pleasant I've ever been around (I've family there so have visited often). I got lucky here at work and got the OK to wear kilts. Most places of work have a written dress code, so an idea may be (without rocking the boat) to approach Human Resources, or perhaps ask someone further up the chain of command. I too think that showing them a picture of someone wearing a casual business kilt will help as perhaps all they've seen are guys in UK's & New Rock boots (like me). Print out a picture of Sir Sean in his Argyle jacket & kilt as maybe your superior is a woman. = ))

from Chicago. I would suggest showing them pictures of kilted folks with jackets and ties.

Welcome from Northern Kentucky. I was stationed at McConnell back in the 70's and still have good friends in the area.

Definitely check out the ten looks thread. Also search on Duke of Rothesay here, one of the titles held by HRH Charles. (Prince of Wales to us Yanks). That man wears a kilt with a great deal of understated style, as ably illustrated in the DoR picture thread.
It really comes down to self confidence. When you wear a kilt in public in the States, you will get comments. If you are wearing it confidently and comfortably you'll do fine.
I have a stash of comebacks on notecards taped to my door to study so I can be as ready as possible when it is my turn again ;-)
Here you go, a good time for me to page through thsi one again too. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-photos-49608/
