The interesting thing about fashion shows is that they have about as much to do with everyday wear as an art show has to do with painting the interior walls of your home. If you go to an art show and fall in love with the likes of Andy Warhol, you're not very likely to go home and paint neon Marilyn Monroe's or soup cans all over your walls, but you may in fact be impressed by an overall feeling of style or color that you implement in your home. It's the same with fashion shows. They are over the top and wild and no one expects anyone to actually dress that way, but you come away with a sense of "hey, I like the fabrics/colors/patterns he/she used," or in this case, "hey, kilts, that's kind of a cool look."
