Ah, well I pulled the trigger and ordered a kilt from USAKilts as well as the accessories for a casual outfit. No rush for me so I will get it when I get it, should be in plenty of time for the summer. Thanks for all the encouragement, I'll get some pics and such when it arrives.

Welcome. As a former Coastie, thought I'd let you know that sport kilt has the USCG taran...I wear mine everytime I compete!

Ah, another Coastie. Always good to see a friendly face. And I have ordered a kilt so I will soon be a kilted Coastie. And I did time out in D11, Ops on a 110' out of Eureka. Enjoyed my time out there, beautiful country in NORCAL and great port calls when we went south.

Thanks for the welcome. I saw the Coast Guard tartan and in fact I am already trying to figure out a way a completely talentless retiree could fill a role on the CG pipe and drum corps. I figure I will wait and learn a bit more about the kilt community before I make that kind of step.
