Would you wear a woman's pair of jeans instead of Levi 501's?

OK, so wierdly enough, Levi's is now selling mens skinny jeans as "ex-girlfriend jeans"...

    That's just...odd.

Really? Ex-girlfriend jeans...no thanks. No thanks to the purse either. I see it would look okay, but just not for me.

I assume that since it's wrong, somehow, to use a re-made purse as a sporran, that people will be consistent and will find the following vendor to be absolutely horrible. They have destroyed the sacred mens sporran and turned it into a WOMANS CLOTHING ARTICLE...which is, at it's core, fundamentally WRONG.

    http://sporran-nation.co.uk/sporran-bags.html

Sporrans are for MEN, and anything that looks like a sporran but is for a woman is SACRILEGE.

I mean, if the logic goes one way...that somehow it's "wrong" for a man to wear, even modified....a womans bag to carry his wallet and keys in, then it must be equally "wrong" for a woman to wear, even modified...a mens bag to carry her wallet and keys in. That nifty pink bag is clearly a modified sporran, right?

    Right?

Because you know, I figure that if the logic works one way for one gender, it's only fair for it to work the other way, for the other gender. If you think it's fine for a woman to wear a sporran-ish shoulder bag, modified with pink leather and buttons and flowers, then I kind of don't see where you can get off throwing a fit about a guy modifying a plain brown leather purse to wear as a sporran.

OK, me being cranky again.... however, my point is that really....aren't there more important things to worry about. It's a bag to hold your keys, cell phone and wallet. sheesh. As long as it isn't totally over the top, what difference does it make?

Under the right circumstance that might go well with a rainbow colored kilt I saw.

Or it might work for some of the lady kilt wearers on the forum.

I'll be the first to admit that all of these accessories make a statement. For some of the rabble that statement doesn't mesh with their inner monologue. For others, it may ...

A sporran is a purse for a man (a murse?) it isn't worn over the shoulder but about the waist.

The question should be does a particular accessory work for me (and in some cases for the missus aka "She who must be obeyed")

If so! Ding a winner! If not back to the drawing board.

I now return you to your previously scheduled discussion.

Speaking as a lady kilt wearer...no...those won't work for me! They are truly and uniquely HIDEOUS!!! And as for working as a purse, don't think so unless all you carry is your keys...not big enough for a wallet and phone and makeup...plus, well, they are just ugly!
But if you disagree with me, well, that's your right as part of the statement making rabble! lol

Why does there have to a rule of logic applied to it Alan? If a Lady wishes to use a sporran as a handbag that's just smashin', more power to her. If a bloke wants to use a handbag as a sporran that's absolutely dandy too. It doesn't mean I have to or all ladies have to grab sporrans. It's about personal choice. You wear white socks, I wear black. I'm not keen on white socks... You don't like black! Sowhaa! I'm still sleeping easily because your choice is not my worry.

We are free to make whatever choices we like and on web fora like this we are free to exchange ideas as to why we make the choices we do with other folks who might be interested. I thought that was the point of being here.

Chill out mate, please stop lecturing everybody. Nothing on here is a matter of great importance and with respect, there's no need to brow-beat everyone who holds an opinion contrary to yours.

I'm not trying to light your fuse by the way... If you think I am, before you go off like a ten bob rocket, just have a quick re-read of your post above and see it from the readers perspective.

EDIT: I'm not a member of the order of the dandelion either.

    Alan...

What's good for the goose is NOT ALWAYS good for the gander.

Would you expect a woman to open a man's car door (if his hands weren't full)?
Is Chivalry truly dead or is that a double standard?
Should men get mamograms and visit an OBGYN yearly?
This could just get silly when you think about it. Equal rights and equal treatment does not always mean exactly the same treatment in all circumstances. Men and women are different and it's those differences that make the opposite sex wonderful.

Women will wear whatever women want to wear. They've made statements throughout the 20th century by wearing what they want to wear... mens cloths, women's clothes, dresses made of paper (look it up), etc. MEN on the other hand, tend to follow the herd a bit more closely... even those of us that wear kilts usually stick to 'kilt accessories' and not handbags. That goes for 'contemporary' kilt wearers AND traditionalists. Are there those that crossdress or 'stretch the boundaries' of what is masculine or feminine? Yes, but that's not the topic here (and is against the rules of XMARKS to discuss).

As others pointed out, it's a matter of personal opinion. The OP asked a question and many of us have answered in the negative. Does that mean you CAN'T wear a purse as a sporran? No. It just means we disagree on this one topic.
