Well, let's see... This Friday, I am going to McCabe's in Colorado Springs to meet up with some fellow X Markers. I'll be wearing my saffron kilt, green hose and a tacky, gods awful t shirt that looks like a green Prince Charlie.

Saturday I'm marching in the Co. Springs parade with the organizers of the Elizabeth Celtic Festival. I'll be wearing my Albannach tartan box pleat kilt, matching waistcoat, Jacobite shirt, and the bonnet in my avatar photo.

On the actual St. Patrick's Day... I don't know! I have kids in school, so probably I'll just go up to the local bar and have a drink. Can't stay out late or do much! So this weekend will be my celebration.

And by the way, CMcG- that's a beautiful tartan! I now have another kilt that I want... Can I ask where you got it?

I'm not sure about attire in any detail, but it will be casual...pretty similar to the OP's pic, except I'll be wearing a flatcap.

As for plans, my wife is going to an art educators convention in Seattle and I was going to tag along so I could visit home for a few days, but due to unforseen emergency expenses my plan fell through, but, since her school is paying for her to go she's still going. On the other hand, I get six days with no wifely supervision!

Since her flight leaves on the 16th, I'll be spending the 16th, 17th and part of the 18th in Rapid City, SD with my Brother-From-Another-Mother, hanging out wherever we find something fun. Also, he's never worn a kilt, and I have one that should fit him nicely. Hopefully, we have decent weather this year!! Last year I spent half the day digging out of the house--which is what I'm doing today.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

I'd end up burning the house down...

All hail teachers! Overworked, underpaid professionals. Both of my parents are retired teachers and I've seen all the hell they go through...

I'm in the parade this Saturday with my car club. Since part of the day will consist of sitting in the car for a couple hours, comfort and not having to worry so much about messing up the pleats etc. is important. I generally go with my PV USAK Ireland's National. The rest of my attire depends on the weather, March in Houston can be in the 30's or the 90's... sometimes on the same day!
For the 17th, likely the same kilt and similar thinking on attire, comfort and easy care. I have the day off, and will be at one of the big outdoor party venues most of the day.
There are some other receptions and stuff during the week I might get out the saffron woolie and dress up more for.
