Companion Comment thread-Poet Laureate Challenge or the limmerick thread
Well, I am enthused to see that we are off to a great start on the Poet Laureate Challenge. Ali started us out on a nice limerick, unfortunately NOT in iambic pentameter, but cute all the same. Barry, Rex, and Panache have all jumped into the fray with wonderful contributions. Here is hoping for a long running, interesting and entertaining poem.
Remember to post your non-poetic contributions and comments here rather than in the actual challenge thread, as that is reserved for those with the poetic stones to step up to the challenge.
Long live the XMTS Poet Laureate Challenge Poem!!

FM,
In the interests of keeping your poetry thread as you wished I have moved Ali's limmerick to this thread.
Cheers

Not to worry Ali, it's not that easy to write a good limerick, but I did like yours.

It may not follow the rules,
As entertainment , it compares to beautiful jewels.
Yeah, I know, it's a good thing my career (and team mates) didn't depend on my sense poetry.

Looks a though you might have to
Moderators - can you move the AlanH and MacMillan limerics to the limericks thread? That would be nice.

OK I have moved all the limericks to one thread to be found here:
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/x...x.html?t=47332
To get all the limericks together with the introduction/ instructions at the top I had to create a new thread
My apologies for any inconvenienece to anyone
Cheers

For me this is the top limerick because:
1/ It rhymes perfectly
2/ It scans perfectly
3/ It's multicultural
4/ It doesn't offend muslims (or anyone else)
5/ It's non gender specific
6/ It's easy to remember
and finally
7/ It is sufficiently DUM, sorry dumb to be taught as English in our schools!
Hurrah for fluter
