Hopefully there are fans here: I'm recalling the St Patrick's Day thing in Season One of the rather excellent TV series 'Boardwalk Empire', where all the Irish descendants are seen dining kilted in full garb. Since it's quite a period piece and obviously takes pride in its authenticity, I'd be surpised if the kilts wern't taken from photos of a real St Paddy's Day event in the Atlantic City of 1920, which would make Irish kilts an ancient tradition in North American terms.
I traded HBO for Showtime a couple years ago, but I'll have to start watching that series on my 'on-demand' thingy!
