Trying to setup a Kilt Day at a local pub to honor a request of one of our X-mark members who is deployed in the Desert. My company's Vet's chapter adopted his unit for Christmas.
Since he and a kilt wearing MAJ can't have any I was asked to lift one for them and the rest of their unit so I thought "why keep it to myself?"

Well, kilts appear very briefly, I want to emphasise that, but in quite a good St Patrick's Day scene where an Irish tenor beautifully sings what I would have regarded as a traditional Prod song, "Carrickfergus", and then there's a lot of talk of liberating Ireland from the "English", so it was all in all a very Irish gathering for sure now.

I'll be kilted and piping at an elementary school, a casino in Atlantic City, and then, finally, for a pub crawl around Atlantic County, NJ, with some other pipers an drummers in the evening

I'm thinking about either entering a "best knees in a kilt" contest at the local renfaire on Saturday, or attending the local St. Patricks Day parade, also on Saturday...Decisions, decisions, decisions...
On the 17th, this will be the first year in many that I will not be in Las Vegas......Not sure what I'll be doing. Maybe just a few Guinness at home. int:

On Saturday I'll be running kilted in a 5K preceding the parade. Quick change into a different kilt to party the rest of the day Probably my Heritage of Ireland beater and Docs, dressed WAY down.
On St. Paddy's... a little up in the air. I have a kickball game that night, so trying to decide if I should show up and play in a kilt Afterwards, though... pub crawling fits the bill! Ferguson mod with weskit and tie.

Can't get to any of the local parades due to messed up schedule, and will be working on the day itself.

Pittsburgh, PA has one of the bigger St. Paddy's Day parades in the US, so I'll be there kilted, of course. That takes place on March 12. After the parade, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival is hosting all sorts of events, so I'll choose one of them to go to.
Depending on the weather, if it's nice I'll wear my good, Ireland's National, wool kilt. If it's inclement I'll wear the kilt Colin is wearing in this thread....New World Irish (designed by Colin). By the way, that kilt is available through Frugal Corner. I got mine at the Baltimore Irish Festival back in November.

I'll be delivering the "March" birthday cake to my co-workers kilted, and then changing into surgical scrubs again, alas.

I plan to attend the celebration in Austin http://www.stpatricksdayaustin.com/
I will be wearing my Irish National kilt, diced hose, cowboy boots and hat, and depending on the weather, my R. R. MacIan Sutherland t-shirt from the Scottish Tartans Museum http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/sutherland.jpg
Yeah, I know, it shows little respect for Traditional Highland wear, but hey, I'm from Texas. Oh, and thanks CMcG for noting this thread http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...tartans-57417/ My new favorite word is teuchter.
