hey i know my old friends here are sages all, anyone seen this seller or have an idea whos product hes selling. im in the market for a new knockaround. ive been looking on the xmarket but it seems the only people who are a 34 on here are either short or holding onto their kilts http://cgi.ebay.com/SIZE-34-JACOBITE...item564124e26c

For that price, I would guess that it is only good for a knock-around kilt anyways. It sounds like you know that already.

I purchased a similar kilt on ebay last month from another seller with similar terms, and found that the measurements that they gave were for the widest measurements and not for the middle hole on the leather straps. It did not fit me at all. I ended up returning it, and was out about $8 US.

I have not delt with this seller before (nor have I heard of them), but for the price, and their 14 day return policy, and the 100% positive feedback, I'd say give it a try. The worst that can happen is that you return it and your out the shipping expenses.

Just for your info the kilt was probably made in Pakistan. The pleats are not sewn in properly as there is just a machine sewn running stitch around 3 inches down from the top.

The material is probably acrylic and will pill badly after a week of use.

I bought a similar kilt (different seller) and eventually got rid of it at a loss because it was just terrible.

I have not heard much good about acrylic kilts, extremely flammable and pill like crazy. For hiking and the likes, I have got good use out of an 8 yard PV kilt from these folks:

It is about twice the price of the one you referenced, but I am confident it is at least twice the kilt. Mind you it is an eastern PV which seems thicker and a bit coarser than the Marton Mills PV. But it is a full 8 yard and wears much the same as a 13oz wool kilt. The colors on the Scottish National that I have are nice and don't have that phony look of some imported kilts you see.

There a few other makers of nice PV kilts USAKilts (one of our trusted sponsors) and Skye Highland Outfitters, but both are in a different class as far as construction quality and cost.

I do not really pay attention, but I think there are a LOT of acrylic kilts on eBay. Unless you are particularly taken with the Jacobite tartan, I'd hunt for a North American seller, just to save shipping time and to avoid the presumed hassle of returning it overseas, should that prove necessary. The first item I found when searching for "kilt 34" was a Black Watch number in ( significant pause )... KC, MO. The only other tartan he offers is "Irish Tara". Our pal at Stillwater has a "medium" THRIFTY on eBay ( also in BW) for about the same price and the prices go up a little, but there are other offerings...

I bought a couple of most satisfactory synthetic kilts from a seller who goes by the name of Compte.St.Germain a while back. He doesn't seem to have any 34s listed, but I would endorse his product- for a low priced non wool kilt.

I have had very good luck with UK sellers on eBay and I do not wish to imply anything negative about them. But I prefer to shop as locally as is practical, when the cost is the same or close.

For an acrylic kilt, I'd go directly to Stillwater.

If the budget is extremely tight, try his economy kilt; for a little more, the standard.

Especially when it appears the bulk of what they sell is string instruments. I would be less wary if the instruments were primarily pipes and PCs....

it is the jacobite tartan that drew me in, i know its a knockaround ill be in my knockaround jerry in buchanan modern tomorrow as i drink to excess. i love jerry's service and price but hes not got many tartans that interest me.

Don't know anything about the seller but I happen to wear a 34 and am 6-2. Sounds skinny but I tip the scales at 170 when I'm not bulking up in training. the curse noassatall is mine to bear. Macmillansson-thanks for the reference for knockarounds.
