We are experiencing some problems with our hosting service.
I appoligize to everyone. I'll know more in a few hours and keep everyone posted.
Please be patient. "Keep calm and carry on."

Steve, thanks for hanging in there with all this. No desire to be a noodge,
the thought occurs some new folk might get discouraged before we get to know them, so..... When I log on, I open a second tab onto the forum in the same window. When I've finished composing, I switch to the 2nd tab before
submitting, and re-log in. Then back to the first tab and click submit. A little
clunky, but not a LOT of extra time. Certainly not as much time as you invest in managing all this.
Perhaps someone with better computer skills (I suck big-time) has a better way
of handling this they could share with us. Or me. Maybe EVERYBODY has a
better way.
Again, thanks for totin' the freight for all of us out here.

Actually tripleblessed that is exactly what I do.
We seem to have a similar occurance each year about this time as our hosting service performs annual maintenance.. I understand that this year our data files are being moved to different computers.
The hint to open muliple tabs is a trick I found last year when this same thing was going on.
When I am online I actually have five tabs open that I use to administrate the forum.
I have 2 admin control panels open. One is for searching users to get the information on our daily new users and one is our banning options in case I find a spammer.
I then have 2 tabs for confirming spammers. One to stopforumspam.com and one to an IP search service.
Then of course I have ay least one open tab for reading posts and perhaps 2 so I can look at the rules or a second post. I do a lot of copy and past between all these tabs.
I know this is not the way most of our members use X Marks. Most are here just for fun and to enjoy the company of other kiltwearers but it does work.
I will be on the phone with our hosting company yet again today trying to find out some good news.
Please be patient. This is only temporary.

Back when this was happening to me, I started copying every post I typed prior to hitting "post." Easy enough to highlight the text and hit Control+C. Then if it doesn't post because you got logged out while typing, Control+V pastes your post back into the reply box.
Your keyboard may even have "copy" and "paste" labels on those two keys. They are among the few keyboard shortcuts I still use. Used to know 'em all, back in the pre-mouse days (yep, I'm that old... no, wait, I meant to say "I've been using PCs since I was in diapers" LOL).
