posting to say thankyou for your efforts in putting up the photo's.fascinating stuff about the witches.you're some way from your home town of hawick that time! Not far from where some of my family run a farm, close to montrose. next time you're away up in angus i'm sure some of the folk on the forum would get a kick out of seeing the aberlemno stone.you're in the old strong hold of the picts there right enough.

i got a particular kick out of finding one of my family sirnames,Fairweather, on many an old grave in the kirkyards there abouts.staying with 'my ain folk' on the farm, catching up on some of the old family haunts that i'd so often sat spellbound listening to stories of back in australia, and seeing the grave stone evidence that my family has a prescense there stretching back hundreds of years, was one of the highlights of my 'home coming'.my cousin doug told me that ,in his words..."some of our folk(meaning our family) left here to go and fight at culloden". particular names may have been lost, also details as to how many went or who made it back from that bloody day of death and mutilation on that sleat raked moor ,but still to this day when it's talked about in my family the tones are low and the faces turn serious.
