No battle plan lasts past contact with the enemy. That's the reason he is called the enemy.

If you have a feeling something is wrong, it probably is.

If you don't have that feeling, you're not paying attention.

    Marine Corps sayings:

"You can run, but you'll only die tired."

"When it absolutely, positively has to be destroyed overnight--USMC."

Somehow, this one makes me laugh--in a good-I know marines-kind of way.

The easy way is always mined.

If you are foreward of your position, artillery WILL fall short.

The diversion you are ignoring is the main attack.

When calling for air cover, DO NOT give your own coordinates.

Nobody ever wished he'd carried fewer magazines during a firefight.

There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Planned bravery defines stupidity.

If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.

Chief Petty Officers are never wrong. They may be confused, misinformed, blissfully unaware, willfully ignorant, or dumb as a box of rocks; but they are never wrong!

We in the RCAC lived by the following poem....."Where bullrushes grow, tanks don't go". Not everyone payed attention to that one.
And Robbie, we had QR&O's Section 119 - Conduct Prejudiced to Good Order and Discipline. It was a catch-all for when they couldn't get you on something else. Usually reserved for incidents involving stupidity and liquor. Well, it was in my case anyway. Oh, to be a young Trooper again....
