Well...I did it.
Wife and I received our claim check for the numerous damages caused by the movers in our last household move. Since we've already replaced all the stuff that we needed, I invested a portion of the payment on a pair of Allen Edmonds McAllisters (as seen in post #1 of this thread). Will update with pics once I get them!

Wow...
Those are a good price...but I don't think they'd compare to the Allen Edmonds. I made my decision and already pulled the trigger. Now I just have to jones over the weekend for them.
This will be the last pair of shoes I'm authorized to buy for a while! New focus for the kilted kollection is to slowly work on the formal rig...working on re-constructing my first attempt at a bias cut waistcoat. Next two purchases will be an Argyll jacket and tartan hose...and then I'll be shopping for some buckle brogues eventually.

longhuntr74, I think you'll be happy with your decision. I'm wearing my new MacNeils here at work. They squeak when I move. I haven't had any shoes that do that for a long time.
Very comfortable the first time I put them on, and as they are breaking in they are just becoming better. I'm impressed.

Any GOOD cobbler ought to be able to do that for you; I often have mine re-done when they wear - just don't let them wear into the second layer. Should be able to re-glue and stitch them properly too.

Congratulations. They are definitely worth the short wait. As I said in a previous post, I have a pair I purchased in 1990, and they are without a doubt as comfortable today as they were when I first bought them.
Look forward to seeing the pix.

Well...the shoes arrived today. They are absolutely beautiful...and absolutely too big (and a touch narrow too)!!!! I'm really ticked.
Talk about a jonesing problem. Now I have to wait 10-14 days for the shoes to get back to the company and to get my money back, then reorder and have to wait another 2-5 days to receive them. Or I will have to find them somewhere else at a good price local...I may end up driving somewhere to find a store that carries them. I'm beginning to feel like I'll NEVER get the pair of shoes that I want in a size that fits.

Condolences on the bummer. Nordstrom's, Fresno, outlet in Santa Maria,
or up to San Fran. Probably none would have the website price. Maybe they
can work by e-mail to adjust size correctly on reorder.

Good news...well kinda.
After trying them on, I'm fairly confident of the size I need. I was actually fairly confident in the 10.5D...I've worn a 10.5D forever...but apparently not in A-E. Pretty sure that a 10E will do the trick. Company I ordered them from for $260/pr only carries them in D though...hmmm.
I was struggling with what to do until I noticed that
A-E is running a sale now through April 25th on the McAllister for $250!! My problems have been solved. Just need to wait a few days and drop my new order direct with the Allen Edmonds website.
