    I have those rubber soles on my shoes. Here's a couple of photos of those soles on a pair of shoes I purchased in 1990. As you can see in the close up, the original leather sole is now starting to show its age. I may have to have them replaced the next time I have the Vibrams put on.

    I think the funny/amazing thing is how you can still clearly read "Allen Edmonds" on the leather...even after all that wear. If you do get them resoled, I'd go for the full reconditioning with AE versus letting a shoe repair place do it. I think you'll get a MUCH better value...but it means you'll be without for longer.

    Coincidentally, I dropped mine off at the shoe repair place today to get the rubber added to the front of them. I have to go a whole week without them.

    I agree, the full reconditioning AE does is really the way to go. Fortunately, I have two more pairs, however, they are not the Italian style of slip on that these are.
