I see I missed a lot of the fun here! At this juncture, I just want to point out that I said that Labatt was a French-named beer, not that the Labatts were French- although I would wager the name is Irish-Hugenot... no never mind. The name was certainly not a marketing deterrant in Quebec, au contraire.

As far as confusing the London ON origins with Toronto ON, I can only apologise, sincerely, humbly, and profusely.

If I thought for a moment that we could cut, fold, stitch and press our politicians into something that would be even remotely useful, I might agree. However, just like a tartan, it's generally thought to be a bad thing if you douse them and set them on fire. generally

I'm just being cheeky. One of the bands that I play in wear it. I love it but we do call it that. Kinda like the MacLeod "bumblebee highlanders" tartan.

Wonderful tartan. Acquired a pair of trowsers in CML tartan about 8-9 years ago from the old Scotch House in London (UK). Slim fit, jeans style pocket, always wore them to Grandmas hosue for holidays. Her people were French Canadian from Cape Breton.

And as of late yesterday, I am the proud and delighted owner of a MLT kilt, thanks to Pete at Canadian Casual Kilts. 5 yd, PV, light enough for summer and stain-resistant enough for events with kids.

    Colors?

There is another fairly recent thread Steve Ashton started regarding the colors of the tartan, and that he was looking into a run of PV in the true colors of the tartan: "We are discussing yarn colors.
The original design called for the range of colors found on Maple trees through the seasons. The Green Color of the leaves in Spring and Summer, followed by the colors as the leaves change in the Fall. Yellow, Orange, Brown. And finally the Red.

Along the way some of these were changed. Gordon Kirkbright started the change when he darkened the Green to an almost black. The Yellow, Orange and Brown are now a Yellow, Light Brown and Dark Brown."

How does yours match up with these colors?

I'm a fan of the Maple Leaf Tartan. Beautiful colors. Congrats to my neighbors to the North on a beautiful tartan. It is one of the few that I can actually recognize when I see it. I will be sure to compliment anyone I see wearing it.
