Let's not confuse folks with a misnomer. That is an excellent example of the kilt as country attire, which is quite different from casual attire.

No, that is almost as kilt casual as I get.

    This is country.

If I'm not mistaken, I think American Country Music is quite popular in Scotland - I've heard that it is so from native pub ownders in remote parts of Skye for sure.

Should we tell the Brits to stop playing rock-and-roll or how to play it properly? I don't thnk it would even occur to us. And therein is a difference between the new and the old worlds. And therein is a reason we prefer to live where we do.
The Cowboy Celtic Band's site has a lot of interesting info on the relationship between Celtic and Western music. Denise Withnell in the band is a distant relative.

Do the flies go in the sporran? Here we generally wear fishing vests with about 50 pockets, and in them carrying supplies for any possible situation covering several species of fish. And I've read of real tying enthusiasts who carried around little tying vices and kits to make up new flies on the stream bank after studying what was on the go in the water. That would be for trout of course.

I would have to agree that if more "tourists" would dress like that while over in Scotland, they might not get as much flack. Its looks great and if one pesters a "tourist" then there is not much to say but that the other is certainly not a gentleman.

However, I'm a 18, I'm a rock n roller, I'll wear it casually as I please. I have to be a little rebellous. (Not that I mean any real disrespect)

Hopefully one day, I'll be able to dress as nice as you, Jock. I'm working on it. Just need a few things, then I'll be one sharp dressed tourist.

At 18 my dear chap, you are supposed to be rebelling, so get on with it! By the time another few years have fled by you will probably be as "conservative" as they come. Good luck to you sir.

Oh we have those too and they are often er, ah, um, well, Americans and----------my brother! I carry a new length of leader inside my hat and a couple of extra flies in a little box in my waistcoat.

Good lord man, perish the thought! Just think what the butler and footman would say if they found out!
