Thank you all, I didn't realize the distinct differences between the fabrics until I read these posts. I believe that the Semi-Tradition from USAK is calling to me, so I suspect Rocky will be seeing me soon, unless I find the old measurements.
    Again thank you all.

The 'Burn test - kilt material' thread is here (showing wool and PV but not acrylic):

There are also treatments you can put on fabrics to reduce their flamability. They come in sprays that you apply and have a fairly solid track record if you have a great concern regarding becoming a "KILT-KA-BOB"

All of the points made about flammable materials are valid. I feel safe though with PV, because very sporadic are the events where I'm around open flame. And my pleats aren't likely to be near it unattended. At least I hope.

Yes, I found the measurements sheet! Now for a tartan... Any suggestions?

Not having noticed the flammability direction in this thread, I just started a
thread on this subject, with links to DIY solution. In General Kilt Talk.

Given the theme of this thread, how about the Firefighters' Memorial?

I've only seen the wool version, but that is an absolutely beautiful tartan. The photos don't begin to do it justice.

Of Rocky's designs, the American Heritage and German heritage are also stand-outs. Caledonia and Holyrood are personal favorites of mine, as well. All these are universal tartans.

I've satisfied my budget with a USAK Casual, in Isle of Skye. My girly likes purple and the different shades mix well with some shirts I have. Hopefully I don't burst into flames.

I don't think you will; you probably have a number of articles of clothing made of materials very similar to your new kilt (some of those shirts, perhaps?) and you haven't burst into flames yet.

    Congratulations on the new kilt!
