I got pulled over for suspicion of DUI because the police officer saw me stuble when I stepped off the curb and drop my keys when I pulled them from my pocket. The thing was I had been in a coffee shop around the corner, not the bar I was parked in front of. I stumbled because I couldn't see the hole by the curb and dropping my keys was an accident. It also took me a while to start my truck and drive off because I answered a text from my wife after I got in the truck.

He let me go but said he suspected I was a decoy and then said "I'll be keeping an eye on you." I'd never heard of a decoy before that...and couldn't believe my friends and I hadn't thought to do that back when we were younger.

Since I was on duty that day there was no way I was going to drink! Uncle Sam's Gun and Canoe Club frowns on drinking on duty. If I was going to drink on a duty day, I sure as heck wouldn't do it at a bar. With the way my luck goes my Chief probably would have walked in to the bar and caught me.

We did a breathalizer test...all zeros of course. The sad thing was that I watched a guy who was obviously intoxicated walk out of the bar, across the street, get in his car and drive off while the cop was running my license. So, in a way, I guess I really did wind up being a decoy in the end.
