and a warm welcome from Valley Forge, PA. I was just in Vancouver a week ago. Oddly, you're the second newcomer from Vancouver in a week, and not a sign of Thistledown to welcome you. Watch for his posts; he's a moderator of this forum and a Vancouver Scot like you.

Hello and a warm Celtic from the other coast, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
Enjoy the "jones" and for your next kilt, there is an awesome kiltmaker in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. --- not too far away from you.

Hello sevenoaks..from Victoria BC..
I'm curious about your statement..
"Just because the cat had kittens in the oven,it donna make them pies."
Was that said in the Gaelic ?
" I wore a kilt until I was 5 years old and then was forced to ware short pants when I started school. My parents immigrated to Canada when I was 9 years old. I spoke Gaelic until I started school and but was caned if I was caught speaking Gaelic, with the result I have forgotten the language"
Seems a bit odd to me to be able to wear a kilt until you were 5 years old ?
Then you were caned for speaking the Gaelic..at 5 years old..by whom ??' and in a north of England school ??
I reckon I must be about the same age as you are and when I was 5 years old at school, I spake common Dundonese..but was niver caned for it.
Are you saying that as a bairn o' 5 years a teacher caned you ?
sevenoaks..isn't that in Kent..?
Welcome..
