After our local Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery went out hiking in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Southern Utah. Took the trail to the toadstools. It was a windy day but the kilt did well. If you look careful you'll see a toadstool rock on the distant cliffs Here's a close up of some toadstool rocks. And some more Wind was up to 30mph with lots of blowing sand so didn't stay long. For the geologists the toadstools are formed when boulders from the Dakota Formation above roll down onto the Entrada Formation below...then wind and weather wash the Entrada Formation away except where its protected by the boulder from the Dakota Formation. Kilt is 13 ounce wool in the Leatherneck tartan, woven up by Strathmore Mills and hand sewn by Kathy Lare

Those are cool Ron. They look like they belong on Paul Bunyan's golf course!! I am always impressed by Kathy's work as well. In fact, I'm going to wear the MacMillan Hunting Weathered kilt she made for me to dinner tonight. By the way, it's great to see you out and about. Best wishes for your continued good health friend!
Great pictures Ron. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Love the scenery. Those are some outstanding photos.

Hoodoo? You do. Do what? Remind me of the babe. (I swear there were some faces in those rocks in the 4th and 5th trail pics...)
I love seeing quirks of nature. I wonder how long it has taken for each of the toadstools to form? Regards Chas
Looking cool in the kilt there Ron. They sure grow big toadstools in Arizona!!
