Where are the Kilted?
I do not see anyone wearing kilts in the Naperville and Aurora Il. Area. We need to see this happen! I would like to wear them more often, but my wife thinks that I am a little crazy if I go out and about shopping etc. I have a wife that doesn't like kilts. If she sees people out there wearing them, maybe she would think different. I am just dreaming that she would change her mind.

I know at least one regular kilt wearer(not a member here) who is a resident of Naperville.

Yep. You're dreaming. I don't have your problem, so I don't know what will change her mind. Try joining the support group on here to see what they suggest.

Okay. We have to set up a schedule. Starting in June, all X-Markers with surnames starting with "A" are to take a two hour stroll through Scotty-x's town. In July, all "B" surnames. In August, "C" etc. By the time a couple of years are done, Scotty will look absolutely normal.
Got your tickets, fellows?

Scotty-x,
I don't live quite that far west and seldom does my daily business take me there, but I do wear the kilt to school in nearby Glen Ellyn and I frequently go kilted around my hometown of LaGrange.

I have work that takes me to Chicago regularly. Not exactly sure how far that is, but I'll let my boss know about the surname issue....count me in!

Oh, I don't know about that. It'll be almost 2 years before I am allowed to visit. By that time, who knows what the situation might be?! She may well be wearing a kilt herself - it could happen.

Wear what you feel good in
Hi Scotty,
I have just started wearing a kilt whenever I walk on the Sea Wall, Parks and shopping with my girl. She loves a man in a kilt if they are coordinated as to what they are doing. I am lucky I guess but I am proud of my heritage and although I know that if you travel to Scotland you will see very few guys in a kilt. To me they have caved in to the English and I mean that without malice.
Whenever I have gone out in a kilt I get compliments and have had only one Punk kid ask why I was wearing a skirt? I told him " why do you have a ring in your nose and a stud in your tongue with chains and leather clothing? He said... "Got you man" when he left he turned and said "Cool man...I like it!
Maybe your woman would be more appreciative if you talked to her and told her your heritage and how good you feel wearing a kilt. North America is a melting pot of peoples around the world and in Vancouver one can see every type of clothing. Some from there own country and some made up from the younger generation trying to look like they rebel against society. I say to each his own. Wear the kilt with pride. There are "Rules" as to when a kilt should be worn and what accessories should be worn and when and where a kilt should be worn. However as long as you do not wear a kilt with a ragged T-shirt or dress it down to the point where you would not show your heritage...I would say wear it!
Try to show your wife just how good you feel and look..... Be proud of your background, be proud of the ancient legacyith: that has been given to you.
All the Best

I am a little south of you (like 2 hours), but if I'm ever in the area I'll join you for a kilt night at the pub!
(or if you are ever in the Bloomington area, I know of one more here besides me)
