Ugh, spent 8 years in and around jungles. I'ven eaten I think andything that crals or slithers--cooked sometimes but mostly raw. During that time, the worst thing I ate were Salsbury Steak MRE's

I'm glad I got out of the service when I did! I came up on "should-have-been-condemned" C-rats and 1st Gen MRE's. The Ham and Chicken Loaf and the dehydrated pork patty were real treats... Just thinking about what an MRE Salsbury Steak must have tasted like makes me shudder... and I've also had a raw lizard or two! Jayzus, even GOOD salsbury steak tastes worse than... well... raw lizard, and that alone a close running with C-rat ham and lima beans.
Same here as what TK posted. I'm like Detroitpete.... if it walks, crawls, swims or flies, I've probably chowed it. It's hard to think of what could be considered weird. But I DO think that eating brains, like our southern friends love, is weird. That creeps me out, and I'm a huge proponent of "nose to tail" eating. I'll use brains for tanning, but eating? Seriously, that just gives me the willys!

Being Czech, I've had brains on a few occasions -- it's considered a delicacy. Other "weird" national treats also included: blood sausage, and beef tartar. Beef and pork tongue, and beef tripe were part of mom's weekly menu... But that's all stuff I grew up with so it's not weird to me at all.
Japan, while not nearly as unusual as their neighbours in Korea and China, still do have their weird moments. They seem to like eating small-ish fish whole, with the head, tail, guts, & bones intact... And fish fry in their salads... Had it. Not a big fan.
Fried bees are a local specialty from the prefecture next to the one I live in. A couple years ago, one of the asshat office staff decided to cook up a mess of 'em in the office kitchen... Very inconsiderate! Stunk up the whole first floor for days! I just about retched every time I had to go into the kitchen that week.
However, of the weird fare here, my favourite, by far, is the raw horse. It's called "basashi" in Japanese, and they serve it like any other sashimi - with a bit of soy sauce and wasabi. Sometimes a little raw, grated ginger. It's quite nice, especially if you're already a sashimi fan.

This is the only thing I would be afraid to try. But then, I was attacked by a small swarm a couple years ago.
Pete - Any suggestions for places to go in the SEMI area to try more adventurous food? When I worked in A2, I liked going to a certain Korean restaurant on A2 - Saline...
Oh, and Salisbury Steak has been removed from the menu. Except for adding 10 pounds to my weight on trainings and deployments, I have no complaints about the food I have to eat when working for the fed.

In Korea, I had the silkworm larva (tasted like walnuts), octopus pulled out of the tank and cut up, some seafood I didn't know what it was both raw and cooked, and some street vendor food I'm not sure what it was. Lots of raw meat and seafood.
Here at home just about everything. Hog, beef, and deer testicles. Coon, groundhog, squirrel, muskrat, possum, gator, snapping turtle, carp, gar, raw oysters, pig brains with scrambled eggs (yes, I'm a Southern boy), and the heart, liver, and kidneys of any animal I kill. I've also cooked chitlins, I prefer to kill the animal and prepare them myself rather than buy store bought. Most of this we consider just food but I know many people think our diet is rather wierd. We'll pretty much eat anything that walks, crawls, or flies through the woods or swims the lakes, steams, and ponds. We also eat wild greens (poke salat, dandelion, lamb's quarter), cattail root, and wild onions.
Yes, I make my own haggis (I use the lungs) and my own sausages of various types.
