    Hose before Brogues!

Back on Tartan day I went to NYC to enjoy the day. Wile my wife and I were at the XMTS brunch one of our xmarks brothers gave me the name of who made the kilt hose he was wearing. I kept looking at his legs and finally had to tell him why. I felt that if I didn't he would have thought I was weird. Anyway... these are hand knit kilt hose made by Tatjana Ciza. And can be seen at www.cafeciza.com/11.html

I went with the pair that looked like it had little German pretzels down the shin. She made me knit garter flashes too. The kilt hose are great! They have the quality feel of the hand knit Aran kilt hose that can be found at USA Kilts but they are not as bulky and thick. Therefor they are suitable for the summer. I highly recommend Tatjana and will be buying the other style someday. With out further ado:

I like the hose and I also “got” your title, quite clever.

You’re a little young for this reference but there was a very funny episode of All in the Family where Archie and Meat Head argued about putting on socks and shoes either sock, sock, shoe, shoe…or sock shoe, sock, shoe.

So is it hos*, hos, brogue, brogue…or hos, brogue, hos, brogue.

*Not sure about the singular of hose.

Oh, those do look great! Thanks for sharing.

I am so glad that the buffet led to such a positive exchange. Makes all my hard work in organizing it worth it!

It seems that the knitter is in Canada. If so, were there any duties or import issues?

I agree. The hose appear to be made from big yarn on big needles*, which would make them fairly quick to make.

*To me, anything over sock weight and size 2 is big yarn and big needles.

    Marvellous hose, Cowher!
As for the number of that noun: when you are talking of a garden hose, or any other kind of hose used for conveying liquids or gases, it has a singular and a plural (hose, hoses).
But when talking of socks or stockings, it is simply hose.
    Regards,
    Mike
