My father was very strict with us about the pronunciations of various words, and one of his pet peeves was “pronounciation”! He used to accuse me of saying it when I had not done so!

He was strict.. and you remember it, don't you! ;)
The scary thing is when the pet peeves of your parents, somehow manage to become genetically inherited. It's funny how I now find myself irritated when people don't lift their feet when they walk, sit up straight at the table and chew gum in public. I mean, I used to think my mum was completely over-reacting, and now it grates my nerves.. kind of like a cat when you rub it's fur the wrong direction... Oh well...
If your parents don't teach you, who will?
Cheers,
Michael

Both of my parents were teachers; my father, a library media specialist. Please note the way I type- punctuation, capitalization, et cetra.

Jock has an English accent, though.

It always makes me happy when you talk about your parents when you were growing up, Hawk.

Yeah, they were great parents! Which makes it easier living with them again... Mom's not doing so well, and needs a little TLC now-a-days.

Yeah, I try. Did I tell you that my dad got to see Candice Bergen nekkid once? She was using his office in Chama as her dressing room when she was filming Bite The Bullet. No one told my dad... He went in to work that morning, opened his door, and found a nekkid woman in his office!! He's got his memoirs somewhere online, but I can't find them. I figure you'd be interested to read them. My parents are in Ohio right, but when they get back, I'll get those from him and email them to you.

That's funny.
Someday you'll have to write your own memoirs.
Although, we leave a lot of ourselves splattered all over this forum, as it is...
