Update on a old thread, and my life

    Hey everyone
About a year ago i posted a thread about a new job on the horizon. Well as worked out i didnt get that job, but i did go back to school and begin working on a new educations and hopes for a new career. That work that i put in has finally paid off. Yesterday i got a call from the Director of IT at my hotel and they offered me a job. I did of course except and hopefully in two weeks i will be transferred and begin working in my new career of choice of IT. It is a bitter sweet moment as i say farewell to fifteen years of food and beverage work(I am a Baker presently). I am now to be the low man on the list as i start over yet again in a new field. The more interesting note of this is, one of my new co-workers and i were talking a week ago( I did a cross training week with the IT dept. before i got the position) we start talking about hobbies. All sorts of things come up and one of them is Kilts!!! Seems he had a kilted wedding, and is looking to purchase a new one one day soon. Well all i can say is come Tartan Day next year the two of us will be in our office and about the hotel in business kilt attire.

Congratulations on a new start! From an old (make that experienced!) IT guy, it is a good profession, but certainly much different from F&B. Although since you are working at the same employer, that experience in F&B will help you in your IT work. Always good to have IT guys who understand the business needs. And if you need any help as you get into the new career, feel free to PM me.

Congrats on the new position! Always better moving up or into a new job with the same company than having to start a new type of job at a new company.

KCW, good to see you around again. It's been a while.

Congratulations on your new position. As I know too well, it is scary fun to start up in something different

I look for "excuses" to wear the kilt. The next one of note is real soon - July 1 - the anniversary of the Repeal of the Act of Procription of the Highland Garb.

On 1 July 1782, King George III gave Royal Consent to repeal the Proscription of 1746.

I and one other, at least, will be wearing our kilts to work this Friday, July 1, 2011. When asked why we're wearing kilts, we plan to reply "Cuz King George said we could!"
