My Harris Tweed kilt jacket didn't come with a vest, so I have no choice but to wear another colour! It almost matches the kilt though...

And here is a buddy of mine wearing a black sweater vest with his tweed Argyll jacket. I'm wearing a straight-cut tartan waistcoat:

Now that I've mentioned tartan waistcoats, I apologize for drifting away from the original topic but here are a couple more pics. At least they fit the general theme of vest not matching the jacket, right?

And at the risk of further derailing this thread, what can JSFMACLJR tell us about the green jacket on the left of this picture?

    No problem!

The jacket my elder son is wearing is a "coatee'--similar to a PC but a bit different. It was made c. 1968 of green velvet. It has a stand-up collar and the front does button up. The only problem with the jacket was that maybe ten years ago the lapels needed to be re-faced, due to an unforseen accident. I had the work done locally with appalling results! Nonetheless, it is quite a nice jacket and a favourite of son #1.

It really is quite lovely and very unique. The colour is so rich and I like the stand-up collar too! Also, the functional button placement works better to my eye than the decorative "V" shape one sees on a standard Prince Charlie...

For those who like the high stance, square bottomed, notched lapel vests such as the Duke of Rothesay wears, or like this one:

    Check out this link

The fabric is 100% wool. The workmanship is impeccable and the styling is spot on for the type of vest it is.

Some colours may be available that are not shown on the website and if you have a yard or so if clan tartan, they will make a notched lapel or shawl collar vest from it.

I really like the plum but I don't know what I'd wear it with.

If you mean the guy with the TOS...that's me! And, OK maybe so.

If you mean on the Old Frontier webpage...it's LA what can you expect?

But I've looked at a lot of this style of clothing over the years...essentially Victorian...and aside from having it custom made like HRH obviously does, this is far and away the best I've ever seen. And not too dear.

I definitely don't mean you! The website would do well to have you in place of the current selection of models... ;)

    Cheers!

    David,

Did this waistcoat arrive in time?
