Scotty-X, you are looking at this with the wrong perspective. You are the adventurer, the explorer. You are the one who is testing the waters to find out their breadth and depth for those timid souls who are wanting to wear a kilt yet are too afraid to do it.

Until they see a Free Man wearing a Manly garment in a Manly manner, they will be happy to wear their trousers and hide in their sea of obscurity! It takes a bold, proud and confident man to bravely walk into the unknown! Neal Armstrong had his small step equating to the giant leap for humanity. You have your small steps leading to the giant leap for the Manly tradition of Comfort. Stay proud, my friend, because if it were easy to be an inspiring soul, then everyone would be doing it.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

My sister lives up in Naperville, and when we head up to visit her family for the weekend I almost always wear the kilt at least once while out and about.

Pubs are great, but every day just seeing kilted people going to stores in the area might help. I have tried in the past and people did like my kilts, of course some didn't. I did get more likes. I just wish my wife liked me in them. Yes, I looked great. I also was in a band at one time. Love the kilts. So, I can get away wearing them is at different events...like the highland games. Just not out in about anytime. Too bad stores in the malls didn't sell kilts. Maybe all the x-markers can come out in one weekend?????? Invasion....

    Great Idea Scotty X

You know I think that is a fantastic idea Scotty-X..It is a spring board for more ideas. If all the kilted men in each city they live in could all get together and set up a small kiosk in one of there major malls. Having some printed information about the history of Scotland the meaning of the kilt. Maybe a computer where they could look up there own tartan and clan, few maps, printed T-shirts, same knowledgeable retailers from there own city, and maybe find some sponsors who would willing to help out financially advertising the great Scotch Whiskeys... we could increase the awareness of the benefits of the kilt. and get more acceptance of guys wearing walking around kilted.
I think maybe "Freedom Kilts", "House of McClarren" "the Celtic Society? and a couple of other retailers in Vancouver would be open to an event like this. I know I would be more willing to make the time to help organize something like this in Vancouver.
I know you guys are very imaginative and maybe we could get this into the main stream of society.
I may be away out of line with suggestion however it is just a thought tossed out. What do you guys think of this?

That being said, I can say from personal experience that the more you wear it the more it will grow on her as well as others.

I live in Rogers Park on the far north side of Chicago. There are at least a half dozen guys that wear kilts here (including a kilted rabbi), at least occasionally. Don't forget the Illinois St. Andrew's Society Highland games coming up the 18th and 19th of June it Itasca (moved from Oakbrook). That's a great occasion to meet other Xmarkers and be around a lot of kilted folk.

I would also say that I have staked out church as a place I always wear my kilt. The only time I didn't wear it in the past two years was the only time I was questioned about it. Because our local farmers market is on Sunday as well, I always wear my kilt there.

And that would be me! :-) Thanks so much for that! I heartily agree with Wright...once I'm done with school (nine days to go until that elusive degree is finally complete!) I'd certainly be up for it :-)

At Taste of Wheaton, several weeks ago, a man was purposefully wearing a Utilikilt Tradesman's in black, and yes, tools hung from it. With white tee-shirt (well-used, that hot day and combat boots. Likely no one commented on his ponytail. Rather impressive and to be commended for his confident attitude.
