So, Alpha Kilts is gone
After unsuccessfully endeavouring to log onto their site for a week, there is a now message from Daron of Alpha Kilts that they were sold to Voodoo Wares, apparently a hippie jewelry / candles/ etc. "company."

It would appear then that the other company will produce kilts of his design. I see they are posted on the site but not using the original names that Alphakilts used. I have three Alphakilts and they became the favorite of my contemporary kilts. As for the new company I guess it will depend on by whom and how they are gong to be made and out of what material. They could end up being the same as the originals or something entirely different. Time will tell. The phone number for the new company is still in central Indiana. If I recall the original kilts were made in the Indianapolis area.

The roots of Alpha Kilt's demise go back two years. Daron made some unfortunate business decisions at that time and the consequences have rumbled on to this day.
I am surprised that it has taken this long.

I am aware of that situation. His lack of communications to the customers did not help the situation. That was unfortunate as the kilts he designed and made under his control were very good. But you know what they say. One oh $h!^ can erase a thousand att-a-boys.

Voodoo kilts?
Here is the link to Voodoo Wares' kilts page:

I remember looking at Alpha Kilts' site a while back but I'm not too familiar with their products. Can anyone compare and contrast what Voodoo Wares appears to be doing with them?

What is in the photograph and the description are the same as what was on the Alphakilt site. They dropped the names Daron used for the product and dropped the Alphakilt name from the side pocket. I have the box pleat with pockets which I think Alphakilt called Glasgow. I also have what Daron called the Compass kilt. From the description on the new site that one appears to be the Molle/Pals kilt. I can not tell from the black photograph as all the detail is too dark to see. My confusion with Alphakilts in sizing is the location of the waist. Are these intended for jean waist or natural waist? I always purchased mine based on natural waist but I think they should have been jean waist. That question is still not answered on the new site. I can't find the FAQ as referenced in the description.

Alphakilts used to have a "how to measure" that specified "at the waist, but NOT to use your pants size".
I would guess it's still the same, but emailing the question to the new owners might be best for assurance.
Edit: from their website: HERE
How do I measure for a modern kilt?
To measure for a modern kilt you will need two things a waist measurement and a length measurement. Pant manufacterers have been lying for years, your waist measurement will on average be two to four inches larger than your pant size. To get a good waist measurement, take a tape measure and find your most comfortable pair of pants. Then run the tape measure thru the belt loops and record the number. To get your proper kilt length you will need to have someone give you a hand. Have them measure from the top of the trousers to the bottom of your kneecap on the side of your leg. The majority of people will fall into the 22 inch length category so make sure you measure twice on the length.
