That's interesting...thanks for the info Livingston, I think that would be helpful to bricekolob looking for possible clan connections, maybe you can pass that on to him.
All the best,

Altho I am a member of the Clan MacPherson assocation I have not been able to verify my geneology.Seems we run out of links before we can trace our name back over the pond. Grandpa always said we were Scotch-Irish,so thats all I can go on.

Welcome, Cousin! I've found Ancestry.com to be a great resource, perhaps because my part of the clan settled in Canada first before heading down to the States. Canadian census records are incredible. The Clan website also has some genealogy resources as well.

Best of luck!

Being of Jewish descent, I guess I belong to the Clan MacGoldstein, and I haven't been able to find a contact address for the association yet.
Rev'd Father Bill White: Mostly retired Parish Priest & former Elementary Headmaster. Lover of God, dogs, most people, joy, tradition, humour & clarity. Legion Padre, theologian, teacher, philosopher, linguist, encourager of hearts & souls & a firm believer in dignity, decency, & duty. A proud Canadian Sinclair with solid Welsh and other heritage.

I'm a half-and-half, my father's side is French-Canadian (St. Jean, Le Brun) and my mother's is English (Sellers, Hargreaves). But there are some Robert/Roberts on my paternal grandmother's side.
Still like kilts, probably going to pick up something in Maple Leaf next...

I voted no, because right now I am not a paying member of any society. I was a paying member of Clan MacKay for several years, but family life just made it difficult to go to games or be able to contribute anything to the society, so I let my membership lapse. In the resulting time away I have discovered other things about my family history and while I will always be a MacKay, its the whole last name thing, but my branch of MacKay came to the US from Argyllshire in the 1700's and the MacKay's from there are supposed to be a sept of Clan Donald. I have found lots of conflicting information on whether or not the 2 branches of MacKay's are related, so for now I am just gonna stay out of clan societies and enjoy being kilted.

Yes, Jeff, one of the Jewish tartans (Shalom, or perhaps Hebron) might suit Father Bill well.
But since he belongs to an episcopal church, he could also wear one of the various Clergy tartans.
The rabbinical tartan does not seem quite appropriate, but we could ask Rabbi Pazo’s opinion on that one.
And I think one would have difficulty tracking down a Clan MacGoldstein . . .
Regards,
Mike

The Gordon tartan would also be appropriate, since it is the de facto Jewish tartan in Scotland.
