There was a Canadian travel show aired this weekend, titled "The Whisky Trail", all about scotch of course and a group of Torontonians coach-touring the distilleries, but they did a few minutes about the Royal Mile and managed to show only a few circa 1820 shops and none of the tat that is described in this thread. While it's true that most of their Royal Mile quest was to find a purveyor of the infamous Scottish deep-fried Mars bar, it really makes one doubt the veracity of one's travelogues if they showed only 10 yards of the real mile....

Perhaps they were being tasteful and only wanted to show the best of the Royal Mile

Back to one of the first pictures in this thread - I rather like the Scottish Parliament Building. It is new, fresh and forward-looking yet buil1 around another building that is hundreds of years old. How cool is that?
When I was inside, on the tour, it did not feel stuffy or even bureaucratic. It felt alive. New ideas can be fostered there and that is what Scotland needs.
I was very amused by the wine bottle outlines in the debating chamber though the Docent said those were people keeping watch on the MPs.
I said "No. Just look. Those are wine bottles." lol

See the cutouts on the far wall? What do you see? People (with no heads, arms or legs) or wine bottles?

Was there a post deleted regarding charges being laid? Or have I lost my way on this thread? (Wouldn't be the first time!)
