Not sure about the Cateran Society, but he wrote the book: Highland Martial Culture, the Fighting Heritage of Scotland We crossed blades and targes at the tail end of the 2011 Gatherin' in Kansas (in the firelight-you think full light is fun...!!). I think he was localish-I had seen him there the last couple of years, but never chatted.

Macman, Those are some great shots...Love the cigar as an accessory in the first one. What year is the Jag? I love the round headlights.

I'm going to toss two in here.
First, from May of last year, teaching at a martial-arts seminar:

And second, just this past Sunday hiking along the sea-cliffs at the Marin Headlands north of San Francisco; temp about 45 (F) and 30-40 mph wind coming in off the water:
