Re: A rather distinctive Sgain Dubh

If you would like an Officer Sgain Dubh with our crest or a seperate small crest please send me an email as described above.

I will start a wish list by date of email received. When the new Sgains arrive I'll announce it here and then start contacting those on the list in order.

If the blade is sharpenable, I can see the need to wrap a napkin or handkerchief around it before using the corkscrew. Still. . .especially with that xmarks crest, I gots to have me one!!

Here ya go be da veva,

    And for Dale Seago,
I just leave the blade in the sheath when using the corkscrew.

Also Dale, I find that the blade is of a pretty good steel for an stock Sgain. I can sharpen it and it will hold an edge.

Re: A rather distinctive Sgain Dubh

Boy, if I didn't already have an officer's model I'd definately get one of these. I really like mine. The blade takes a good edge, the opener is stiff at first, but soon begins to move smoothly. I've used the corkscrew and have done it with the sheath still attached. As a side note I wonder why the corkscrew is not on the side of the handle opposite where it is located so that you would be pulling against the back of the blade, and not the sharpened edge since it takes more effort to pull a cork than it does to wrench the bottle opener. All in all, I find my officer's model to be a very serviceable and good looking sgain dubh.
