Sporran Belt...silly question...

I went shopping for a make-shift sporran strap this weekend. Checked out the WalMarts, Lane Bryant, etc. to no avail.

Happened to walk into Gap, and lo and behold, there is a sale on women's belts - I found two (in small, however), but they are the spitting image of a sporran strap.

Since they are so small, I plan on cutting the one in half and braiding a leather strap for each end that will connect to D-rings on sporran (found clips at Jo Ann fabric).

The second I can make into chain belt as some point if I need to. I just couldn't pass up 4.99 USD for half a sporran strap.

So, any suggestions on where to find leather laces/straps for the braiding?

try a craft store or hobby shop.
or a place that sells make your own beads etc.
