Well...today I decided to take another look around for boots. This is what I found:
I found them on sale at Payless for $14.99
I'm going to return the Rockports and invest the difference in some kilt hose and a belt. I also looked at Target, as someone had suggested, and I really liked their Mack boots, but I couldn't beat the price on the Payless boots. Thanks for all the input.

While Blundstones are great I find they can look a little bulky at times so I have a pair of dark brown traditional looking boat shoes that are very comfortable but must be worn with the sox up or they look stupid. So I guess it is the semi formal look for smart daywear when black shoes look overdressed and boots would be out of place.
Cheers
Rob

I'm glad you're happy with the look of the shoes. My experience is that Payless shoes fall apart much more quickly than the average shoe. I can't recommend them.

Well, I was going off of suggestions by others elsewhere on the board. A few people seemed to be quite happy with them. I guess time will tell. Still couldn't pass up the price.

Hey Ug,
Could be that some folks are not as hard on their shoes as you and I happen to be. It is rare for shoes or boots to last more than a year for me. Cheap shoe rarely see six months.

I actually have 2 pairs of boots and 2 pairs of shoes from there. I have beat the crap out of the boots and a pair of the shoes, and they are going on 2 years and show no sign of needing replacing. Of course with size 13 they are made like snowshoes rather than shoes. I have always found their runners to blow out after a few months of use though.

Are you saying that you'd have been really tall if you'd not had so much leg turned into foot? :P
BTW, if my shoes were waterproof, many folks would want to borrow them and put an outboard motor on them.

At 6'4" I would rather say that me feet are needed to keep me upright. Besides, someone has to keep the Sasquatch legend going.

Either Payless has improved their quality of the shoes that they bring in, or Payless Canada carries a different line of shoes.
