I have the suede which I got for my "winter" kilt (the UK NeoTrad just wasn't cutting it) and when it arrived - and I have to say here that i really put Jeff under the gun cuz I was leaving for Canada and wanted it yesterday - both my wife and I were stunned at how, well, hefty it was. The only problem I've had is that the stitches sewing down the pleat on my right hip seem to be coming undone. That may be my fault, though. I realized that I've been wearing it a bit lower than it prolly ought to be and that's pulling on the stitches when I sit. My lovely bride says she'll fix it for me tonight.
ANYWAY, I love my PK. I wear it often and only wish I had gotten the side pockets, too.

I just got my PK today. Wow! I got the lined denim. I got all the pockets too, 'cause I know how I am about loading up my pockets. I also got the matching sporran.
It's a work of art! I'm wearing it right now! The fit is perfect and the construction is top-knotch.
Jeff rocks!

Occasionally, you'll run into somone that has a kilt from a manufacturer that they're just not quite happy with. For whatever reason (price, quality, construction) they just don't feel quite right about the purchase. As with the others that frequent festivals, concerts and games... I see a LOAD of kilts and have NO FEAR of going-up and talking to anyone.
I have YET to meet anyone that doesn't really like their PittsburghKilt. Surprisingly, I see them everywhere I go... not just in Pennsylvania. They're all over the place! They're also easy to recognize by the construction. They're a perfect mix of the ruggedness (is that a word?) of the UtiliKilt, the more "traditional" look of the regular kilts, and the versatility of the AmeriKilts. The material is also quite firm and solid in most cases. All-in-all, they're a wonderful value and choice.
So far as I can see, Jeff's the ONLY kiltmaker that has the art of lining down! Been there. Tried it. Hate doing it. It speaks loads for the craftsmanship and patience of the man!

There'll be one up here some day as well. Once I get my Freedom Kilt, a PK will be my next choice. (I figure I should at least wait until I get ONE kilt before buying more)

He who hesitates is lost... I don't think you'll hear many negative things about Jeff or his kilts from anyone on this board. I have one so far. A bucksuede cammo that I love. Heavy enough to feel like a tank but wears like a casual and as far as the quality of work, it would be hard to beat.

I own three Pittsburgh Kilts, the two MARPAT camos - forest and desert and the custom tri-color Arizona Flag kilt.
In addition to all that's above, Jeff is open to doing custom work like the Patriot's Kilt and the Arizona Flag Kilt. If you have a need or an idea he'll listen and if he can make it for you it'll be at a fair price. Kind of lets you be your own designer, without the hassle of sewing it all together.
My guess is that as men return to wearing MUGs many will be wearing two color PKs in their favorite team colors, whatever the sport.
Silly me, I thought the underkilt pocket was just a novelty. Now I love it.
If you haven't done it already, check the PK gallery on this board, or my gallery, to see some of his work.
If you're as addicted to kilts as a lot of us are then a Pittsburgh Kilt is definately something you should have at least one of.
Like the kilted brothers above have said, you'll be fine, no risk, and a reasonable jones time.

I'm very happy with my first Pittsburgh Kilt. I'm posting a pic of it in my gallery including details of what I'm wearing with it.

Geez, did I pick the wrong week to go AWOL!
Just as a point of interest, about the beginning of this year I made a couple changes: I started using a very heavy button thread to attach the hooks. This was after I had one customer tell me that he had a couple come loose. (This was a suprise to me: I have 11 kilts, and don't remember having any of my hooks come loose).
I also started double-stitching the apron pockets and the sporrans. (I figure, why risk making someone have to ship the stuff back to me for repairs when I could just double up the stiching in the first place?)
I'm going to drop a private note to JazzKiltz and find out what's up with his stitching coming out--that shouldn't happen!
Thanks to those of you saying nice stuff about my kilts. And thanks to anyone who reported problems back to me--I'm always looking to improve.
Peace,

Jeff, how close to denim in weight are the "brushed denim twill fabrics" you have?
